According to the personnel consulting industry, the widely discussed quota regulations have contributed to companies in Germany wanting to hire more female managers than before. However, the lack of suitable applicants has so far prevented a significantly higher proportion of women. The personnel consultants see this as the most important reason for the unsatisfactory proportion of female specialists and managers. These are the results of the panel survey “Careers of women in specialist and managerial positions” conducted by the Federal Association of German Management Consultants (BDU) among decision-makers from around 530 human resources consulting companies. Michael Heidelberger, Chairman of the BDU Personnel Consulting Association: “Candidates aged 45+ with professional and management experience are particularly sought for positions on the board of directors and supervisory boards. It is precisely this age cohort that is currently still narrow among particularly qualified women. However, it takes between eight and ten years for beginners to advance into management. The necessary foundation must therefore only be created gradually in order to gradually increase the share.”
